Why did I nominate
with lots of wild life, it is a magnet for artist and writers and the like.
Sept is good, more or less guaranteed good weather, and there is a folk festival (2nd weekend) at a place called Swanage not far from, where I live, with a good bus service to Swanage, there is also a steam train there which is a BIG tourist attraction.
There are folk festivals from may right thought to maybe October thought out England, There is a brilliant week long international f/fest last weekend/ into the week end August or September in Sidmouth but that get quite busy as it is height of summer Good but can be expensive (I never buy season tickets just go for all the free entertainment.
As I live on a camp site, I cant fully promise but there is a remote possible chance of arranging accommodation, on the site, (for those fit
and able to live in tents I personally can help, I have a large tent and a couple of smaller ones too), the site I have in mind also has static caravan that they hirer for the summer, holiday use. I can find out more if you like by the end of the month, (working until then so can’t do any thing before),
There are also many interesting market and auctions (?) (Things going for bids) and interesting museums other than public transport which is pretty good I can’t suggest transport methods.
Hope this satisfies my nomination.
Hope all is well with every one I have to go I only got 30 min today and that's now gone.
take care
love sylvie

Daphne Lunda ... in charge of the “Argentine Chapter”
Reasons why I would like the next reunion in Mar del Plata , Argentina
Points in favour:
1) Because I live here.
2) I really would like to show some friends the country I adopted and enjoy writing about.
3) We have six Circle members in this city, and although they are not active in the Circle because of difficulties with Internet, given real human contact, they would all be very willing to host a Reunion activity, be it social, cultural, educational or just plain fun. And we would all like to receive you.
4) Argentina might not be the greatest country in the world to live in, but it sure is one of the most interesting to visit.
5) A brief cultural change is always a good thing.
6) Accommodation: For an overnight stay in Buenos Aires, my husband can get group discount at an excellent naval hotel.
In Mar del Plata, a Circle member’s husband works in a centric 3 * hotel, that can offer us reduced rates for groups of over ten, in two or three bed bedrooms with private bathrooms.
In my own house there are currently two empty bedrooms
Just opposite my house there is a carefully maintained, fully furnished house which can sleep six comfortable, for those who prefer the comfort and freedom of a home to a hotel, which can be rented for a week or fortnight at a time.
The submarioners club, of which we are members, has a five person apartment available for short term rent.
For stays in the rest of the country, again my husband can get group discounts at any of the naval hotels.
7) Transport: we have a neighbour who runs a 12 seater minibus for outings and excursions, driver/mechanic included
8) We have an excellent opportunity to get an optional seven-day excursion for a group, either to the northern, southern, or western provinces of Argentina, according to demand, at a very reasonable price, flight, outings, accommodation and half board all included.
9) We can easily hire either of the different sized submariners halls or their recreation ground (swimming pool Volley court, party hall) for events.
10) Once you get here it would be a n economical winner. Visitors coming here would get loads of pesos for their dollars and it would probable stretch further. (On the other hand, from here we need loads of pesos to get an adequate amount of dollars and then find it doesn’t go far)
Reasons against:
a) It’s a long way from everyone ( but again, that would put you all on an equal basis)
b) Spanish is the main language here, (but there are people who speak a sprinkling of English.)
c) We have no Wal-marts, Timmies or peanut butter (but there are other places to shop, drink coffee or stuff to spread on your toast.)
Recommended time to come: in off peak seasons when all the above offers would be effective, Fall ( March, April or May) or Spring ( Sept. Oct, Nov) My prefence being October.
Buenos Aires has the most important International airport, so it would be convenient to arrange everyone’s arrival within the same 24 hours, so you can all be met as you deserve (there are not many connecting flights to Mar del Plata, 404 km or 250 miles, though there are excellent motorways)
Note:If any interest is shown in this proposal, I can get an approx estimate of costs at any time.

State Park of Vila Velha
Found on the 2nd plateau, or The Plateau of Ponta Grassa, 22 kilometres from the centre of Ponto Grasso (towards Curitiba), the park has a set of natural attractions, among which are rock formations millions of years old. Rheir origin goes back to the Carboniferic period, approximately 350 million years ago, when this region was covered by a tongue of ice. With climatic changes the ice began to melt and move, taking with it tons of rock fragments and sand, that later was left on the surface, and by the action of wind and water the sand stone formations appeared

REUNION 2008 UPDATES
This is going to be a very interesting race right to the finish line. The results of the vote so far are:
Argentina 5
England 2
Australia 1
Brazil 1
Remember I said interesting well here are some comments I have received.
Brazil of course. Brazil is bigger than Argentina, and we could see many interesting things, besides wild environment on about 8 thousand kilometre from seacoast beautiful.
Moreover, in Brazil we have an establishment economic situation and all resources necessaries to do anything, including international meeting or what else. Also, everyone have the acknowledgment to the Brazilian hospitality.
Do you know or already saw the Carnival party ? That's a great opportunity...
I really can not wait to hear the responses to this from the others! On to another response ....
If Brazil wins there is a good possibility of me getting there, being a neighbouring country,
If England wins, under the circumstances I'd have to make a supreme effort to get there (son, daughter can you lend me some money?)
and Uganda or Australia would make reunion very interesting!!
here is another one ....
We visited Weymouth, Dorset, England in 1995 and there is still so much we didn't see.
So as you can see this is going to be a very exciting contest to say the least. Do be sure to get your votes and your comments in to me soon. The voting form is on our - COF website members in the voting!

So if there is only 22 days until Valentines Day that means there are only 22 days left to vote for Reunion 2008. The competition is heating up and the results so far are:
Argentina - 5
England - 4
Australia - 2
Brazil - 2
Looks like every vote will be an important vote! So far votes are in from Ruth, Florida Marie, Daphne, my much older brother Wayne and his lovely wife Jenny, Valter, Maxine, Ontario Dorothy, Jami, Jeanette, Talyta, Pami and BritPat -- If you don't see your name on that list do be sure to vote today!

Received this from Billie (SIMMONSBEARHUGS@AOL.COM). Had to share it with you and don't forget to cast your Reunion 2008 vote here http://www.angelfire.com/journal2/wwwcof/index.html Argentina is still in the lead with 5, Australia - 2, Brazil and England both tied with 1.
Received this little message about Australia that I thought you would find interesting.
Australia - here you can visit Melbourne - the greatest city in the world - where we just held the Olympic Games, visit the magical beaches of Australia - see the Great Ocean Road and the beautiful scenery - visit the wonderful Mornington Peninsula - travel across on the ferry to Queenscliffe as the Dolphins swim beside you and if you have been to the Caribbean you have seen nothing until you see the Bay at Sorrento - so come on down to the Land Down Under - see Sydney and all of the other beautiful states - and remember that your money is worth more here.
Have a wonderful Sunday!
Sharon
