SHARING
Sharing means to participate. You might think you are just relating something of little significance from your corner of the globe when you share your stories with us but it goes way beyond that. Any insight into your life results in very diverse learning through your experiences. Every time we hear or read something new and add it to our personal store of knowledge.
WWWCOF member emails send us off on virtual vacations. For example, my knowledge of geography has increased substantially ... has yours???
Just have to share the "Stone Soup" story with you which illustrates ever so nicely the value of sharing.
There are many variations on the story of stone soup, but they all involve a traveler coming into a town beset by famine. The inhabitants try to discourage the traveler from staying, fearing he wants them to give him food. They tell him in no uncertain terms that there's no food anywhere to be found. The traveler explains that he doesn't need any food and that, in fact, he was planning to make a soup to share with all of them. The villagers watch suspiciously as he builds a fire and fills a cauldron with water. With great ceremony, he pulls a stone from a bag, dropping the stone into the pot of water. He sniffs the brew extravagantly and exclaims how delicious stone soup is. As the villagers begin to show interest, he mentions how good the soup would be with just a little cabbage in it. A villager brings out a cabbage to share. This episode repeats itself until the soup has cabbage, carrots, onions, and beets-indeed, a substantial soup that feeds everyone in the village.
In this story the traveler was able to see that the villagers were holding back, and he had the genius to draw them out and inspire them to give, thus creating a spread that none of them could have created alone.
It is important to know that as members of the WWWCOF we need to share ideas, love, and energy. We all need to be heard, to be able to speak freely and voice our opinions without fear of judgment. This we are able to do in the WWWCOF. That being said we do encourage the sharing of happy thoughts and memories but we do recognize that this is not always possible. Through our sharing of knowledge, we can help spread positive thought throughout the world which is a giant step forward for humankind.
WWWCOF members are mentors. Whether old or young, formally educated or street smart we mentor other members of any age, gender, race, or socio-economic background. Mentoring/sharing allows us to expose others to new experiences and introduce them to new ideas. WWWCOF members embrace the idea of helping each other discover themselves and their potential, show them their own brilliance, and guide them in defining and achieving any goals they may have. In turn, we discover and learn new things about ourselves.
The WWWCOF exists so that no one feels disconnected from the world. We represent a powerful connection between people. What we do and say does reverberate through the lives of people we may never meet.
Living with values allows you to become a positive source of inspiration for others. Don't hide - express yourself and embrace life without reservation. By simply being yourself, you can help other WWWCOF members see how one person can make a difference. So keep those emails coming. When you read an email from another member or hear about something they have done (for example things you read here in Global Express) do take a moment to email that member and say hello.
We learn about life by relating with others. What do you think? Email me with your thoughts and opinions on this article.
